Bus Terminal, Fieldbus Box, EtherCAT, Lightbus and PC Fieldbus Cards
 
Bus Terminals  It is an open and fieldbus-neutral periphery concept consisting of electronic terminal blocks. The head of an electronic terminal block is the Bus Coupler with interface to the fieldbus. The Beckhoff I/O system supports more than 150 Bus Terminals and it enables users to operate mixed signals without restriction at each station. With the bus terminals in protection class IP 20 and the Fieldbus Box modules in protection to IP 67, the complete range is available for all relevant signal types and fieldbus systems. BECKHOFF Bus Terminal meet the requirements of the EMC and low-voltage directives and carry the CE mark. Bus Couplers and Bus Terminals are checked by Beckhoff for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and meet the required standards

Fieldbus Box The concept of the introduction of the fieldbus system was to reduce the quantity of wirings. Simplified system diagnostics, enabled by intelligent field devices that could send detailed information about malfunctions and errors quickly to the controller, came later. Finally the field devices were given controller functionality for distributed data pre-processing and for simple control tasks

NEW PRODUCT EtherCAT Real-time Ethernet: Ultra-high-speed right up to the I/O
EtherCAT (Ethernet for control automation technology) is the new open real-time Ethernet network from Beckhoff. EtherCAT sets new standards for openness since it will be a published protocol and uses standard Ethernet technologies. EtherCAT sets new standards for real-time performance since it will process 1000 I/O in 30 microsec using twisted pair or fiber optic cable. EtherCAT gives you the option of using the classic more expensive star topology or a simple low cost line structure -no expensive infrastructure components are required. EtherCAT uses very cost-effective standard Ethernet cards (NIC) while other real-time-Ethernet approaches require special and expensive cards in the controller

Lightbus The fast fibre optic fieldbus and the new ways for control technology with light. Increasing automation, increasingly complex production equipment, rising demands on speed and communication - this is where conventional cabling and installation technology reaches its limits. Beckhoff Lightbus system replaced complete cable routes with one single fibre optic conductor. The Lightbus system is open and universally applicable where interfaces are available for common bus and computer architectures, from the standard PC up to VME computers, and for control systems in use around the world. The wide range of distributed Lightbus components cover the requirements found in automation technology for items from displacement sensors, through universal Bus Terminals up to drive controllers

PC Fieldbus Cards , Switches The intelligent interface generation. Beckhoff complete their offer of fieldbus components with the PCI-based PC fieldbus cards for Lightbus, Profibus, CANopen, DeviceNet and SERCOS interface and Ethernet. The Beckhoff TwinCAT Software System turns any compatible PC into a real-time controller with a multi-PLC system, NC axis control, programming environment and operating station. TwinCAT replaces conventional PLC and NC controllers as well as operating devices with:

embedded IEC 61131-3 software PLCs and software NCs in Windows NT/2000/XP, NT/XP Embedded, CE

The TwinCAT NC Interpolation (NC I) is the NC system for interpolated path movements. TwinCAT NC I delivers open PC solutions for standard axial components and CNC controls. TwinCAT NC I uses the power of the PC and allows axis regulation under Windows NT/2000/XP. The C61xx series of IPCs comprises five devices of different sizes, all equipped with Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium III or Pentium 4 processor on a slot motherboard for Pentium III or ATX motherboard for Pentium 4. The RAM can be extended from 128 MB SDRAM up to 512 MB on the slot motherboards, and from 256 MB DDR-RAM up to 1 GB on ATX motherboards

The 3-slot add-on PC CP63xx complements all types of built-in Control Panel CP68xx by a full Industrial PC. The PC can be equipped with a 10, 12, 15 or 19 inch TFT display, as a monitor without keys or with different types of keyboards. A touch screen or touch pad is optionally available. The Panel PC series CP71xx is designed for mounting arm installation. A Control Panel is the front of the Panel PC. An aluminium PC housing with protection class IP 65 is attached to the back of the Control Panel and is mounted using a mounting arm from the Rolec mounting arm system. It is possible to fit an optional CD-ROM or CD-RW drive beside the floppy disk drive behind the side door of the housing. The 4-slot add-on PC CP71xx is fitted with Intel Celeron 733 MHz on a slot motherboard with passive backplane. The PC can be equiped with 10, 12, 15 or 19 inch LCD, as a monitor without keys or with keyboards in different variants. A touch screen or touch pad is optionally available

The Panel PC series CP75xx is designed for mounting arm installation from top. A Control Panel is the front of the Panel PC. The correct display size and keyboard are thus available for every application. The Industrial PCs CP75xx with Intel Pentium 4 processor represent a powerful platform for machine construction and plant engineering applications, for example with TwinCAT automation software under Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

CP6xxx-CP7xxx, The PC Control Panel
The IPC concept has a new orientation. Operating and display elements are detached from the computer. The computer is housed in a control cabinet which this approach provides great freedom. The CP6xxx and CP7xxx series Control Panels are designed for use as a man-machine interface. Operating and display elements create an independent unit, separated from the control level. The Control Panel has a flat, elegant form, with a large surface presented to the user, but a low depth. The PC is protected in the control cabinet, yet its location is easily accessible. An independent PC housing can be optimised for fitting PC components.

Modular Industrial PC for Mid-range Control

Designed for control tasks in the medium performance range. It combines the best of two worlds - Industrial PC and hardware PLC. It is a modular control system that can be mounted on top-hat rails. Its components are plugged together depending on the required function and are installed in the control cabinet or terminal box

The new product range is designed for tasks requiring the characteristics and computing capacity of Industrial PCs, but whose budget does not stretch to full-blown Industrial PCs. The system only uses those components that are actually required. For example, a CX1000 can be operated in "headless" mode, i.e. without display or keyboard; in this case, the associated interface is not required. Whilst the resulting control system has no visualisation, it does have communications capability via the built-in Ethernet and RS232 interfaces

If local visualisation is required, this can be implemented via a DVI (digital video interface), to which all Beckhoff Control Panels and all commercially available monitors with DVI input or VGA input can be connected. The touch screen signal is read via one of the two available USB interfaces
